Former FIFA president, Sepp Blatter, has told podcast series, 'Powerplay', that the 2022 World Cup "should not" have gone to Qatar. Blatter, 86, was president of world football's governing body when Qatar was awarded the tournament in 2010. The Swiss also shared "concerns" he had when the news was announced about the summer weather, and that Qatar was “too small" to host the World Cup. The Gulf state has been criticised for its stance on same-sex relationships, human rights record and treatment of migrant workers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe and 🔔 to BBC Sounds YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/bbcsounds?sub_confirmation=1 Listen to Powerplay: The House of Sepp Blatter here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand/p0dfg11h Football Podcasts playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4Z-TOtZ0iIMDlXb6pDRfIFC7UbS0_W4W Fresh on BBC Sounds playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4Z-TOtZ0iIMjIcANQ9ScCDCmN6PE5GP3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #SeppBlatter #QatarWorldCup #WorldCup Sepp Blatter: World Cup "should not" have gone to Qatar | BBC Sounds We are BBC Sounds.
